WHEN I HAD NO MONEY
عندما لم يكن لدينا مال
When I had no money, I was still blessed
Though my pockets were bare, empty,
My heart was filled with peace
And there was no monotony.
My friends were loyal, true and kind
No selfishness clouded their heart or mind
But as my wealth grew, my serenity hollowed
The tranquility within me, my money swallowed.
Relatives with tears would sometimes appear
At others, with counterfeit smiles they would draw near
But I couldn't read their treacherous faces
Deadly intentions hid behind their embraces.
Lovers came with promises sweet
But I failed to see their open deceit.
Their greed trapped me in false vows
In the web of their lies I became their prey somehow.
They robbed my peace, my joy
They sucked dry my money
Left me alone to cry
To my destiny.
True love surpasses all gold
And peace of heart is the richest hold.
The blind race for money's greed
Leads us to places where only loneliness breeds.
